Epileptic boy is denied use of cannabis
A BOY of six who suffers up to 30 epileptic seizures a day cannot have cannabis treatment, the Government has ruled.
Alfie Dingley was given the medication in the Netherlands last year and it cut the number of fits.
But the Home Office has told his family the drug has no medicinal benefit and cannot be prescribed here.
MPs from the all-party parliamentary group on drug policy reform had called on the Government to help Alfie, from Kenilworth, Warks, who has a rare form of the condition.
His family said: “Alfie has gone from a death sentence to the prospect of a more normal life.”
They added: “We want compassion to find a way round inflexible rules.”
