THERESA May set out plans to reform post-18 education in England yesterday.
The Prime Minister noted we have “one of the most expensive systems” of university tuition.
Students are graduating with average debts of £50,800 (£57,000 for poorer undergraduates with maintenance loans) and paying an interest rate on loans of 6.1%. The issue is a hot potato for the Tories after young voters turned to Labour at the last election after Jeremy Corbyn’s vow to abolish tuition fees.
