Should we have shorter degrees?
Many universities offer two-year degrees. Obviously, these are cheaper. A Government study also found these courses were as good as, and in some cases better than, the traditional three-year degrees. However, many students have been deterred by the heavy workload and the lack of time for “deep learning” and reflection. It is also harder to combine an intensive course with a part-time job, which many students take on to subsidise their income.
