Baby cruelty parents jailed

THE parents of a 41-dayold baby boy, who abused him so badly that both his legs had to be amputated, were jailed for 10 years.

Tony Smith had eight fractures after being swung violently by his ankles.

Parents Tony Smith, 47, and Jody Simpson, 24, of Whitstable, Kent, were found guilty of child cruelty charges at Maidstone crown court.

Judge Philip Statman said “I cannot envisage a worse case.” Baby Tony’s adopted mum said: “He is vibrant, so confident.”
