BOURNEMOUTH is today named Britain’s top beach and 14th best in the world.

Luskentyre, on the Isle of Harris, was ranked second in the UK and Rhossili Bay, South Wales, was third.

Bournemouth’s seven miles of sands beat Anse Lazio in the Seychelles and Manly Beach, Sydney, in the Trip Advisor report.

A spokesman: “It’s not just good weather that makes a cracking beach.”

The world’s most idyllic was named as Grace Bay, Providenciales, in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
