UNDERSTATED but packing a punch, this fearless topical comedy from Jo Brand, Morwenna Banks and Will Smith is a little gem.
BBC1, 9pm
After watching this, it’s the last time you’ll complain about going to the supermarket. In some far flung corners of the world, its inhabitants must go to extreme lengths to eat and survive.
There are reindeer herders in northern Siberia who migrate across a frozen wilderness, fishermen in the South Pacific who must dive 10 metres down into the pitch black sea to find ever-decreasing fish stocks. And in CRAZY DAYS Elm Heath staff Northern Australia, Aboriginal people still hunt for the eggs of the saltwater crocodile, highly valued for meat or leather. But stealing eggs from under the nose of one of the world’s most aggressive predators is a dangerous job. There are amazing, but heartstopping scenes here as they wade through the marshes, hoping a croc won’t jump out and attack them.
The crocs lurk everywhere, and as the hunters gently close in, this is a bit like watching a horror movie with a Jaws-like soundtrack that will fray your nerves.
