DON’T LOSE FRED SHED

-

Reading in Saturday’s Mirror that Fred Dibnah’s Grade II listed house and Heritage Centre is up for auction worries me in case it should fall into the wrong hands. Why isn’t it bought for the country?

Fred’s contribution to the history of all things steam and chimneys was second to none, and the chance to acquire his treasures for the nation should not be missed.

Aid workers who behave badly are a minority. Management should have acted in a more professional way, but neither of these issues ought to mean support for Oxfam and other charities should diminish. The only people to be hurt by this will be the poor and needy.

Oxfam needs support for the sake of all the people it helps. I will continue with my backing and I urge others to do the same, and that includes foreign aid. Charlie Edwards Tonbridge, Kent
