AGUERO WAS ‘SPAT AT’ IN CUP STORM
SERGIO AGUERO claims he was abused, punched and spat at during the pitch invasion after Wigan’s shock FA Cup victory.
The Manchester City striker, who will not be charged by the FA following the confrontation, alleges he was punched by two fans – and one spat in his ear.
City are considering legal
action, as they examine whether there is a case for common assault against at least one.
Blues manager Pep Guardiola and Wigan boss Paul Cook will escape sanction for their roles in the explosive game that saw City defender Fabian Delph sent off.
However, the FA have charged both clubs with failing to control their players. Aguero, who has been “reminded of his responsibilities” by the FA, met with senior City staff yesterday to give his side of the story.
They have also taken testimony from coach Mikel Arteta and physio Steven Lilley, who stepped in to shield Aguero as the City team battled past boisterous fans to reach their dressing room.
Wigan have conceded stewarding at the game was inadequate.
Greater Manchester Police have also launched an investigation into the trouble, and identified two individuals accused of assaulting Aguero.
