Wood walker: ‘I went past stab accused’

- BY MARTIN FRICKER

A DOG walker told jurors he came face to face with an ex-soldier just before he allegedly stabbed a pensioner to death.

Peter Bibby said Alexander Palmer ignored him as he walked straight past like “he was on a mission”.

He said: “I thought it was a bit rude. Most people clash eyes, or say hello.”

Palmer, 24, is accused of murdering retired BT engineer Peter Wrighton, 83, as he exercised his dogs in a Norfolk wood last August.

Prosecutors claim he had a grudge against dog walkers and heard “voices” urging him to kill.

Police said his mobile was in the area at the time and his car was on CCTV.

Palmer, of Bawdeswell, Norfolk, denies murder. The trial continues at Nottingham crown court. VICTIM MP Adrian Bailey
