Hooded gang mug Labour’s Adrian Bailey

A LABOUR MP has been mugged on his way home from Parliament.

Adrian Bailey, 72, was targeted by “up to six” hooded thugs at 10pm on Tuesday near his home in Southwark, South London.

One jumped on his back and another attacked from behind as a third blocked his exit with a bike.

The West Bromwich West MP called for help to what he thought was a passer-by, but they turned out to be a fourth attacker.

They made off after he handed over his phone and wallet. He suffered “bumps and bruises” but did not need hospital treatment.

He said: “It brought home the value of bobbies on the beat. Every member of the public deserves a safe environment.”
