MERC’S G63 IS BOX FRESH

It is the anti-SUV brigade’s worst nightmare: the Mercedes-AMG G63. This boxy off-roader has been completely re-engineered for 2018 and now features a 585bhp version of Merc’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that replaces the old 5.5-litre V8. Top speed is a scary 150mph if you spec your car with the optional AMG Driver’s Package. The sprint to 62mph takes only 4.5sec. The official fuel consumption is 21.4mpg, but you might find the teens more likely.

If your wallet is suitably crammed you can order a new G63 at the beginning of summer.

The price should be announced at Geneva next month.
