Low incomes up just £300 over 10 years
EIGHT million poor Brits will see their incomes rise by just £300 over this decade, a report warns.
But higher earning households’ pay should rise by £3,100 over the same period, said the Resolution Foundation.
Director Torsten Bell said: “Poorer families are falling further behind as they bear the brunt of £14billion of welfare cuts.”
He said living standards would start to rise again next year – slowly.
Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell said: “The poorest have been forced to shoulder the burden of almost eight years of Tory economic failure.”
