LED Zeppelin legend Robert Plant is discussing a reunion to mark the band’s 50th anniversary.

The news will surprise fans as he has refused to consider any return with surviving members Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones for over a decade. But now the singer is predicting a celebration to mark the mile- stone. The 69-year-old told US website The Current: “We’re planning to get together and talk about it.

“There will be a celebration, I’m sure. Somewhere a cork will pop!” A photo book, new live album and the release of previously unheard demos have already been mooted. But Plant’s promise will leave many speculating that Zep could return for a live show.

Fans hoped for a return after their brief O2 comeback in 2007 but Plant shied away from all pleas and turned down promoters’ offers of £100million.

Last February, after nine years of trying, guitarist Page, 74, gave up on his dreams of a further get-together and announced plans to tour solo next year.
