THE family of two little brothers – who watched in horror as the boys were killed by a suspected drinkdriver – have spoken of their loss.

Mum Louise Platt-May was pushing son Casper, two, in a toy car and holding six-year-old Corey’s hand when she saw the car hit them as they crossed a road.

The boys’ two brothers, aunts and cousins were on the way to a park with them and also saw Thursday’s tragedy.

As Louise, 28, was being comforted by husband Reece, 30, grandad Kim May, 51, said: “They were my heart and soul. They were happy, lovely, jolly boys. Their lives have been taken away so young.”

The Ford Focus sped away and was found abandoned nearby. Police held a man, 53, and woman, 41, suspecting dangerous driving and drink-driving.

In a heartbreaking statement released by officers, mum Louise said: “Corey was amazing. He’ll be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.”

“Casper was a cheeky little boy, but he was so loving and caring and constantly told his family how much he loved them. “His smile could light up any room.” Reece’s sister Tia Fletcher, 22, was with the boys and their brothers Conor, eight, and Cooper, four, when they died in Stoke, Coventry.

She said: “We were crossing the road after checking both ways. There was no car in sight so we stepped out.

“Next thing we saw was this black car speeding round the corner and it just didn’t stop, never seemed to slow down.

“Casper was sat in his Mini Cooper toy car and it just smashed it to pieces. It was like a war zone. The eldest brother Conor is old enough to understand it all. “He just keeps crying.” Aunt Chelsea Platt-May, 27, said: “We were all bubbly to go to the park. Then there was a sound of crushing plastic and screeching of tyres. We all froze.

“It wasn’t until we heard Louise scream we knew something was horribly wrong.”

She added that Corey was a talented footballer and Manchester United fan. “Everyone was so proud when he was man of the match recently,” she said.

Witnesses claimed the car had been “doing at least 60mph” – twice the speed limit – when it smashed into the boys.
