Eoin backs Stokes the racehorse
CAPTAIN Eoin Morgan compared Ben Stokes to a thoroughbred racehorse when announcing the all-rounder is making his England comeback.
If the Ashes series was a Grand National, these five upcoming ODIs, starting in Hamilton early tomorrow, are more like Chepstow.
But the return of Stokes after five months is still a much-needed boost for England on a tour which would otherwise lack significant interest.
Stokes was suspended over his arrest in Bristol after an ODI against West Indies last September, missing the Australia tour.
But after finally being made available for selection and pleading not guilty to affray in court last week, Stokes is getting back up to speed here.
Morgan said: “It would be nice for him to get a race under his belt. But when you have a racehorse of Ben’s quality you need to look after him.”
