Crock Cap not fit for Supreme

- BY DAVID YATES

SUPREME Novices’ Hurdle second favourite If The Cap Fits has been ruled out due to injury.

Harry Fry’s six-year-old — who was a short as 5-1 for next month’s Cheltenham Festival opener — completed a hat-trick of victories this winter when scoring at Kempton on Boxing Day.

But he will now be prepared for Aintree’s Grand National fixture in April.

“If The Cap Fits will not run at the Festival due to a muscle tear,” said Fry.

“As disappointing as it is to be missing Cheltenham, we have to do what is correct by the horse and give him time to fully recover,” he added.

“We will now focus on getting him back to full fitness in order to defend his unbeaten record over hurdles at Aintree’s Grand National meeting.”
