PHIL PARKINSON wants new recruit Jan Kirchhoff to be patient before helping Bolton to avoid the drop. The former Bayern Munich defender (below) was signed as a free agent this week now his Sunderland contract has run out. Boss Parkinson used former Reading star Jem Karacan, who arrived to boost the Trotters’ promotion bid last season, as an inspiration to the German. “If you look at last year we brought Jem Karacan in around this time and he didn’t play straight away,” said Parkinson before today’s game at Norwich. “But he waited and then played tremendously well to help us get promoted.”
