Strictly curse holds no fear for Janette

Aljaz is my dream guy. In the next couple of years we will have some baby news

JANETTE Manrara has told how the curse of Strictly will never separate her from husband Aljaz Skorjanec, because she trusts him 150%.

The couple are currently enjoying a belated honeymoon in the Seychelles, after the BBC show’s tour ended last month.

Next month they reprise their roles in the touring stage show Remembering Fred, a tribute to Hollywood icon Astaire.

Janette, 34, who married Aljaz last summer, says she never worries about the Strictly Come Dancing curse, despite the huge number of stars who have split or had affairs.

Aljaz has worked with glam TV partners including actress Gemma Atkinson, 33, and models Daisy Lowe, 29, and Abbey Clancy, 32.

But American Janette says: “I trust Aljaz 150% with my eyes closed. In a relationship the most important things are trust and friendship, and we have both of those things. I’m a lucky girl.

“Cheating is non-negotiable. In any way. But I don’t worry about that with Aljaz, that’s for sure.”

She says the Slovenian dancer, 28, spent a year persuading her to go out with him. “It wasn’t love at first sight for me but it was for him, he says.

“Because he’s younger than me and so handsome, I just thought, ‘Oh gosh, he’s trouble. There is no way I’m ever going to let myself get involved with someone like that’.”

She adds: “For a whole year I was hard to get. It took a lot of convincing from him for me to believe he wasn’t going to break my heart.”

Once he succeeded, however, Janette realised they made a great couple. She admits: “He really is my dream guy. No matter how tired I am, and let’s face it there are days you wake up feeling horrible, he will still say, ‘I think you look beautiful and I love you’. “He is beautiful on the outside. I don’t know how the universe blessed me with him as my husband. But he is even more beautiful on the inside.” Janette reckons it won’t be long before they start a family: “The next couple of years I think we will definitely have some big baby news. We both really want children.

“He is going to be a great dad. We always joke that he will be the one who lets the kids get away with anything – I will have to be the one to set the rules in the house.”

Remembering Fred tours nationwide from March 29.
