Yvonne: My ski tumble was crucial
GRAN Yvonne Pickford, 58, from Birmingham, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003.
She said: “We are going to Las Vegas for my daughter’s 21st birthday. I am also going skiing and am 18 months into yoga training to become a teacher.”
The mum of three found out she had cancer after she was knocked over by her daughter on a ski trip and got herself checked by a GP. Tests showed two lumps on her right breast and one on her left side.
Yvonne had chemo and radiotherapy and has since run marathons and cycled across India to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. She said: “I’m so grateful for my treatment and I want to do all I can.”
