Queen ‘glad sis Margaret met Roddy’
THE Queen thanked one of Princess Margaret’s best friends for introducing her sister to Roddy Llewellyn, a documentary reveals.
Margaret had an affair with the baronet, who was 17 years her junior, while married to Lord Snowdon.
Lady Anne Glenconner told Elizabeth: Our Queen: “I felt rather guilty always having introduced Roddy.
“But after Margaret’s funeral, the Queen said, ‘It was rather difficult at moments but I thank you for introducing Margaret to Roddy ’cause he made her really happy’.”
Margaret was pictured with Llewellyn in Mustique in February 1976 and her split from Snowdon was announced weeks later.
Elizabeth: Our Queen is on C5 tonight at 9pm.
