I’d run into that school shooting even if I didn’t have a weapon...
DONALD Trump boasted he would personally have run into the Florida school shooting unarmed.
The President repeated his attack on a police deputy who did not enter the building at the time of the massacre.
He told governors meeting at the White House to discuss school safety: “I really believe I’d run in there, even if I didn’t have a weapon.”
Trump repeated his criticism of officer Scot Peterson, saying he was “frankly, disgusting”, after it emerged the armed school guard remained outside during the attack, at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, that left 17 students and teachers dead.
DISGRACE
The President also criticised several other deputies who failed to immediately enter the school, telling the governors the officers “weren’t exactly Medal of Honour winners”, adding: “The way they performed was really a disgrace.” Trump has been ridiculed himself after many pointed out how he was given five deferments to avoid military service in Vietnam in the 1970s. The US President met leaders of the National Rifle Association at the weekend. The NRA has opposed any move to restrict gun ownership, but Trump claimed it now “wants to do something”. His election campaign received £22million in support from the pro-gun group. Nikolas Cruz, 19, a former student at the school faces 17 charges of murder.
