What people with Parkinson’s need to know...

-

A long-term Scottish study has found that people with Parkinson’s disease tend to be lighter in weight than controls and that they continue to lose weight as the disease progresses. Patients with atypical forms of the disease lost weight faster than people with typical Parkinson’s disease.

Weight loss of more than 5% of initial weight within the first year of diagnosis was also linked to poorer outcomes, including dementia and death.
