MAY DAWS BE WITH US

- BY BILL COOPER

CAMERON DAWSON says the FA Cup has provided the few moments of pleasure in Sheffield Wednesday’s painful season.

And he claims that the longer they stay on the road to Wembley, the better their chances will be of beating the drop into League One. “Getting through to the quarter-finals would mean so much,” said Owls keeper Dawson (above) ahead of tonight’s fifth-round replay at Swansea.

“It’s not been the season we hoped for so beating Swansea would bring a feel-good factor to the place.”

Wednesday are currently 17th in the Championship and Dawson went on: “The league is the most important thing for us to focus on but we’re on a good run in the cup so hopefully we can go to the Liberty and pull off a shock. “Then we would have a home tie against either Tottenham or Rochdale to look forward to on what would be a big occasion at Hillsborough.” Sheffield-born Dawson says his home-town team have welcomed the extra games a cup run brings even though they have 16 players sidelined through injury. He said: “That’s a real problem for the physios because I don’t think they can get enough tables in the treatment room!”
