- BY NEIL McLEMAN

JACK NICKLAUS said he was “amazed” by Tiger Woods’ display after the 14-time Major winner recorded his best result since August 2015 at the Honda Classic.

Woods, 42, (right) finished 12th in South Florida in his third PGA Tour event since more back surgery.

He finished ranked third in driving distance at 319 yards and hit 14 greens in regulation in his final round as he ended eight shots away from a suddendeath play-off won by Justin Thomas. Nicklaus, winner of 18 Majors, said: “I’m amazed at how well Tiger’s playing. I think it’s fantastic. He’s playing very well.” Woods is 20-1 for the Masters – the same as Justin Rose and a shorter price than previous winners Bubba Watson and Sergio Garcia. The four-time Masters winner said: “I’m on track and have control of my game.”
