Saint Sims out to beat injury hell
SOUTHAMPTON midfielder Josh Sims is out to banish 10 months of injury misery by firing Mauricio Pellegrino’s men to Premier League safety.
The 20-year-old burst on to the scene last season with a string of dazzling displays, including setting up the goal against Liverpool which took Southampton to the EFL Cup final.
But the academy star suffered a freak knee injury in training, which restricted him to only two Premier League appearances since last April.
Sims, who came off the bench to inspire struggling Saints to fight back and claim a crucial 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday, said: “We have got some really important games coming up.
“If I can ultimately help the team stay up that’s what I want to do.
“From a personal point of view, a lot of my work is looking to next season.
“But of course the games now are massive, so I’ve just got to do my best if I get the opportunity.”
