Provident to pay £170m

DOORSTEP lender Provident Financial is to pay nearly £170million compensation to 1.2 million credit card customers.

The Financial Conduct Authority also fined the company almost £2million over a product sold by its Vanquis arm.

The Repayment Option Plan was supposed to help customers manage debts but put borrowers deeper into the red, the FCA said.
