She will have to be less outspoken once she’s a royal

MEGHAN won’t think she did anything wrong, but speaking out as she did is a break with royal convention.

For now, she’s not a member of the Royal Family. But it will have to change.

Within the confines of the royals, she will have to be more circumspec­t.

The Royal Family do not get involved with politics, for the very reason they are apolitical, they are above politics. That is the way they always will be, because once you start dipping your toe into political issues it is a minefield. Kate was criticised at the Baftas by some for not wearing black in line with the MeToo campaign, like many stars. But she would not have dreamed of making a political statement.

Meghan will have to rein it in. We know she is a feminist, but as a royal she should be careful about voicing her opinions. There are lots of others who can do that for her.

It probably will be hard for her, but I am sure she will learn.

To voice too many opinions could be viewed as a misuse of royal privilege.
