Killer of OAP dog walker given 28yrs
AN ex-Commando who murdered an OAP walking his dogs was given a minimum 28-year life sentence.
Alexander Palmer, 24, who told mental health staff he wanted to be a serial killer, stabbed Peter Wrighton, 83, as he exercised his pets.
Police at first thought the savage attack, in which Mr Wrighton was nearly decapitated, had been by a wild animal.
The judge said Palmer, of Bawdeswell, Norfolk, was “highly dangerous” after he stopped taking his drugs.
Palmer, found guilty of murder in a wood in East Harling, Norfolk, in August, was told: “This was a callous, planned killing.”
A serious incident review will probe his dealings with NHS mental health teams.
