Digital Monday, disc March 12 Willem Dafoe has scored a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for this trailer-trash drama, his third nom following 1987’s Platoon and 2001’s Shadow of the Vampire. He plays a weary, kindly motel manager chasing rent from guests and being a surrogate grandfather to their kids.

Brooklynn Prince gives a wonderfully uninhibited performance as a six-year-old left to run riot during the summer holidays.

It’s a portrait of poverty in the shadow of Disney World, and is rich in raw immediacy and social commentary.
