WILLETT FINALLY A CUT ABOVE

-

DANNY WILLETT is on course to make his first cut of the year after an opening 70 at the Tshwane Open in South Africa.

The 2016 Masters champion (right), who was dogged by a shoulder injury last season, has dropped down to world No.210 after missing the weekend in his first three events back. But the Yorkshireman carded two birdies and one bogey in his opening round at the Pretoria Country Club to sit six shots off the first-round lead. “We’ve been practising really hard at home and training really hard – the game is better,” said Willett. South Africa’s Louis de Jager claimed a one-shot lead with a seven-under 64.
