Wigan v Widnes, 8pm SHAUN WANE says John Bateman is eager to improve his defensive positioning as he continues at right centre for the Warriors.

England international Bateman (right) primarily plays second-row or loose forward, but is happy filling in as a centre. Wigan head coach Wane said: “That’s John – he looks for improvement all the time, he’s very harsh on himself. “You’re a bit more isolated at centre than defending in the back row – he wanted to work on it and he has done.” Tonight’s match is subject to a 10.30am pitch inspection.
