There are already signs of progress after more than 70 female TV writers told how their prospects for getting shows on mainstream TV are limited.

The new series of Doctor Who – previously criticised for its lack of female writers – will feature “a number” of scripts by women, BBC Drama boss Piers Wenger has said.
