‘ADHD’ fear in Deepcut death
DEEPCUT soldier Sean Benton could have had an undiagnosed personality disorder that led him to take his own life, an inquest heard yesterday.
The 20-year-old, from Hastings, East Sussex, was shot five times in the chest at the barracks in 1995. Retired army psychiatrist Adrian Gillham was asked if he accepted new expert reports concluding he could have had an emerging disorder.
He said: “I did have an anxious feeling I’d missed a man with ADHD.”
The inquest in Woking, Surrey, continues. In 2016, the High Court overturned an original inquest that recorded a verdict of suicide.
