HUGHTON TARGETS FIRST ‘BIG SIX’ SCALP

-

BRIGHTON boss Chris Hughton has warned Arsenal his side are desperate for a win against one of the “Big Six”.

Struggling Gunners head to the Amex tomorrow for what could be another potential banana skin – and another nightmare in store for Arsene Wenger.

And Hughton (top), whose side are unbeaten in six games including a 4-1 mauling of relegation rivals Swansea last time out, says he won’t be pulling any punches.

“Confidence is high here and we’re on a good run,” he said. “The timing of the run is important too because we have some big games coming up.

“We haven’t beaten a team in the so-called ‘Big Six’ yet and we need that to change.

“We still have many of them to play in the run-in and we need to get something.

“Our best chance so far was at Old Trafford, when we played very well but lost 1-0, and we need that to change.” Hughton, whose Seagulls have games against Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham still to come, has dismissed suggestions he will never have a better chance of beating the Gunners. He said: “Most managers would say that when you play against a team of the stature of Arsenal, who have had back-to- back defeats, you know they will want a reaction. “It’s arguably the worst time to play them, not the best. So we have to get on with the job in hand. “Arsene is an outstanding manager – has been and still is. There is no one with more experience, and I have absolute respect for what he has done, and the ability he still has.” The Seagulls have no new injury worries, and Hughton must decide whether to once again leave striker Jurgen Locadia (above) – their record signing – on the bench because of the form of top-scorer Glenn Murray.
