‘Slave’ cash cut by 40%

THERESA May has been accused of throwing modern slavery victims into “destitution” as their weekly allowance is cut by more than 40%.

Time in which victims can claim support trebles to 45 days but weekly cash will dip from £65 to £37.75.

Labour MP Frank Field said this will force vulnerable people back to “slave drivers and exploiters”.

The Home Office said there is no reduction in total sums spent on support for slavery victims.
