ATM scam on fans in Russia

-

CROOKS plan to fleece fans at the World Cup with rigged cash machines.

Russian scammers are buying retired ATMs for £1,200 and refitting them to target foreigners in host cities, said investigators.

The machines will harvest PINs and card details then crooks will use the data to withdraw cash from bona fide ATMs.

One official said local people were unlikely to be fooled but visitors could “find it difficult to tell a fake from a real one”.
