Train strikes over guards
RAIL workers at two firms will stage fresh strikes today in the long-running row over the role of guards.
RMT members on Merseyrail and Arriva Rail North are due to walk out for 24 hours in protest at plans for driver-only trains.
The union’s general secretary Mick Cash said: “This is about putting the safety of the travelling public before the profits of the private train firms.”
Strikes are also planned on the Southern network for March 12.
