FRANCIS: I’VE GOT VARD WORK AHEAD

-

SIMON FRANCIS will not complain if Jamie Vardy dives for England at the World Cup – but won’t give him chance to take a tumble today.

Bournemouth’s Francis was sent off for bringing down Vardy in the Cherries’ 0-0 draw at Leicester two seasons ago.

Skipper Francis (above) said: “Vardy went through a phase where he was getting his body in front of defenders. There is not a lot we can do about that, if he goes down and is in front of you.

“I know that firsthand because I got sent off against him so I will be aware of that more than ever. I got the ball and the manager called it one of the best tackles he’d ever seen.

“If it means England are going to be successful, then yes (I would be happy for him to go down easily in Russia).”
