£15k ‘insult’ for life of my girl turned away by GP
TRAGIC Ellie-May Clark THE mum of a girl killed by an asthma attack after being turned away by her GP slammed a £15,000 compensation offer.
Ellie-May Clark, five, died at home after being refused an emergency appointment for being late. Her mum Shanice Clark, 26, said the money offered by the insurers of the GP, Dr Joanne Rowe, was “an insult”.
She said: “How do you put a price on the life of a beautiful little girl?”
The General Medical Council gave Dr Rowe a warning over the incident at the Grange Clinic in Newport, South Wales, in 2015, but she continues to work as a GP.
Coroner Wendy James said last week: “Ellie-May was let down by the system.”
Shanice added: “All I want is for this to never happen again.” REPORT In Mirror
