HAUL’S WELL AS STARS STRIKE GOLD
BRITISH CYCLING godfather Stephen Park has declared his haul of six medals at the track world championships in Holland a success.
But today’s publication of a Parliamentary report into doping in sport is likely to cast a shadow over the Brits’ satisfaction.
There was gold for Katie Archibald and Emily Nelson (right) in the women’s Madison, and also in the men’s team pursuit, plus matching silvers for Jason and Laura Kenny.
But cycling will be in the politicians’ line of fire again when their dossier is unveiled.
GB performance director Park said: “There are a huge number of changes that have gone on within the organisation. We fully recognise it’s not just what we achieve but how we achieve it is important.”
GB surpassed its threemedal target, missing out on a seventh in the closing men’s Madison in Apeldoorn, as Ollie Wood and Mark Stewart finished a point short of bronze.
