All councils have cut back on services and are struggling to cope with the recent bad weather. Their staff are flat out and it’s the same with the emergency services. No one in power helped to calm the crisis.

I did not see Jeremy Hunt on TV speaking about how proud he was of NHS staff, nor did any top minister assure us that all is under control.

All these cutbacks show just how incapable the people in charge are. So thank goodness there are truly caring people who are working hard to keep Britain moving. John Wright Bingham, Notts

If the worst outcome should happen and a hard Irish border is created, Boris Johnson must be permanentl­y seconded to the customs team at what would be Europe’s busiest border crossing.

I cannot agree with your chief football writer John Cross. VAR (Video Assistant Referee) is the only way forward for fairness (Mirror, March 1). Too many errors by officials have cost some clubs dearly.
