Payout after cops’ threat to shoot pet
A FAMILY has received compensation after they said armed police stormed their home and threatened to gun down their dog.
Brian Arundale, 86, his wife Ghislaine, 67, and their son Ralph, 37, called police for help after a dispute with a neighbour.
But three officers – two with weapons – burst into their home in rural Coreley, Shrops. Ghislaine and Ralph were held for assaulting an officer, but charges were dropped.
Brian said: “To see your wife and son handcuffed and taken away in a police van was awful.”
Chief Supt Charles Hill said: “West Mercia Police agreed a legal settlement. on the basis of technical legal advice and we do not accept all elements of the claimants’ case.”
