‘Coe knew about drugs allegations’
MPs criticised IAAF chief Seb Coe for his “apparent desire to suppress revelations about doping”.
Double Olympic champion Lord Coe told MPs he first learnt about “specific allegations” from a German TV show in 2014.
But David Bedford, ex-London Marathon race director, said he had earlier emailed Lord Coe about Russian runner Liliya Shobukhova, who was asked to pay £330,000 to athletics officials to cover up positive doping tests.
Coe said in 2015 he did not read the attachment to Bedford’s email, but forwarded it to the IAFF’s ethics chair, Michael Beloff. But MPs said it “stretched credibility” that Coe was unaware of the allegations.
