‘Fumes leak’ kills tourist in hotel stay
TRAGEDY Mayflower Hotel A SPANISH tourist died and his friend is critically ill after a suspected carbon monoxide leak at a fourstar London hotel.
Marcos Servera Menendez, 34 – declared dead at the scene – was believed to be sharing a room with Esteban Garcia, 37, who is in intensive care.
The two were in London for a short break and had seen a musical together.
They were said to be staying at the Mayflower Hotel in Kensington.
Police said: “Initial tests indicated a high reading of carbon monoxide. The hotel was evacuated.”
No one from the hotel could be reached for comment yesterday.
Mr Menendez was a cinema fan and had been a TV producer, cameraman and video technician.
