SKY FALL
Landis: Wiggo should lose title and team will not make Tour
TOUR DE FRANCE leper Floyd Landis claims Sir Bradley Wiggins should be stripped of his Yellow Jersey – just like he was.
And the American, who exposed the doping at Lance Armstrong’s US Postal Service team, is “100 per cent sure” Team Sky will not be on Le Tour this year because their reputation has been damaged beyond repair.
The sworn enemy of Wiggins (above) may be a
FROM BACK PAGE tainted witness after having his Tour title rescinded for doping 12 years ago and the British rider accusing him of lying.
But following Monday’s parliamentary committee report, which accused Sky of using banned drugs “to enhance the performance of riders and not just to treat medical need”, Landis (right) delivered a scathing verdict.
Wiggins, who became the first Brit to win the Tour de France in 2012, denies “unethical” use of ‘therapeutic use exemption sicknotes’, allowing him to take triamcinolone to treat asthma. But Landis said: “I don’t know why in the report they said there was no doping violation.
“They used it for performance enhancement. Wiggins should lose his Tour title – I can’t see how the sport authorities can let it slide. You can’t take them seriously if they don’t act.” With Team Sky boss Sir Dave Brailsford (left) under pressure to quit and Chris Froome failing a drugs test for exceeding permitted levels of another asthma medication, Landis believes the team cannot survive.
He added: “I’m 100 per cent sure there will not be a Sky team at the Tour this year.”
