Scandal of £2bn crisis for children in care
CHILDREN are being put at risk because they are “paying the price” of a £2billion funding black hole, Labour has warned.
John McDonnell said the squeeze on council budgets was making it hard for authorities to provide the care needed by vulnerable youngsters.
The Shadow Chancellor said: “It is a scandal that vulnerable children are paying the price for the austerity policies of this Government. It is unacceptable that, while there are more children being taken into care… children’s services face a £2billion deficit by 2020.”
