Live well at any age

-

1 People aged 65+ are recommended to do 2.5 hours of gentle aerobic exercise, such as brisk walking or ballroom dancing, each week. Staying active can also boost mental wellbeing.

2 The three most vital factors to improve heart health are: eating your five-a-day fruit and veg, regular exercise and stopping smoking.

3 Daily walking can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, and strengthen bones, helping to prevent the onset of osteoporosis.

4 Yoga, tai chi and dancing are all exercises which can help to improve balance and co-ordination. Doing this twice a week may reduce the risk of falls.

5 Keep your bones healthy and strong by eating calcium-rich foods, getting plenty of vitamin D from sunlight.
