SHOVE OFF, NUDGERS

-

I’m concerned about what has come to be known as “nudge theory”, a rather insidious form of behaviour modification which is being used by government, banks and utility companies. It involves a reduction in choices available until the “target” adopts the desired behaviour.

It’s common to find it being used by firms that want their customers to deal with them online, which of course keeps their costs down and safeguards their profit margins. This cynical form of manipulation is becoming overused. John Costello Wolverhampton

The obesity crisis is only a crisis for those who choose to overeat and do little exercise. TV cooking shows should go back to basics to educate people about what is a healthy meal and explain about correct portion sizes based on a child’s age. As a child I ate from a side plate. With regards to the drugs crisis in jails, we need proper staffing levels, better pay for prison officers and proper discipline for inmates. The Tories paid off the experienced staff so created this mess.

It is the same with the NHS, police, armed forces and everything else. But elections are on the way. Need one say any more? Pam Booth Wallasey, Merseyside
