Wallet found after 50 yrs

A GRANDAD has got his stolen wallet back after it spent 50 years hidden in the wall of a school.

Peter Mirley, 67, was a joiner working on the new school when the wallet with £20 in wages and holiday pay was swiped.

It was discovered – minus the money – when a builder was replacing a window at St Joseph’s primary in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.

Peter said: “I remember being devastated – £20 was a lot of money.”
