PAUL LAMBERT claims Jack Butland could handle the pressure of being England No.1 at the World Cup.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate has a big decision to make over his goalkeeper for Russia because of Joe Hart’s struggles, and Lambert says Butland would not let anyone down. Butland (right) is set to be named next week in the squad for the friendlies against Holland and Italy.

His Stoke boss said: “Jack has been brilliant since I’ve been here. I would have no fears about playing him.

“If you ask, ‘Would he be able to handle everything thrown at him?’ I’d say, ‘Yes’.”
